Jenna Ortega, star of the hit Netflix series Wednesday, has been praised for tweets supporting Palestinians, Yemenis, and Syrians and for informing her fans across the world how they can support those affected by war.

A past tweet emerged of the 20-year-old highlighting the suffering of people in Palestine, Kashmir, Syria, Yemen, and other war-torn places. She then asked fans how she could promote NGOs supporting them.

"We must never give up on the people of Ukraine, Yemen, Palestine, Kashmir, Iraq, Syria… the list goes on unfortunately. For anyone who is willing & wanting to contribute any way they can, I want to form a thread with information. Does anyone have resources/links they could add?" she asked fans in February in a tweet that has attracted more than 47,400 likes.

Ortega's profile has since exploded with the success of the Addams Family spin-off Wednesday, in which she plays the lead role, and she has used her increased fame to highlight good causes.

This included pinning the call-out tweet on her Twitter profile - which has 1 million followers - and listing the charities and groups assisting those in need.

This includes Syria Relief, the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, and Save the Children, which have all done critical work in the region.

In one tweet, Ortega also promoted Decolonising Palestine, an initiative intended to educate the public on the situation in Palestine.

In 2017, following the Syrian regime's chemical attack on the opposition village of Khan Sheikoun in Idlib that killed around 100 people, Ortega also voiced her support for the victims.

"Praying for the families of the 72 people who died due to chemical attacks in Syria... my heart is breaking. #PrayForSyria," Ortega, then 14 years old, tweeted.

Ortega has become one of the world's most talked-about actors following her engaging performance as Wednesday Addams in the hit Netflix show, directed by Tim Burton. Released only a few weeks ago, Wednesday has become one of the streaming platform's most-watched shows of all time.

Ortega has a track record of fighting discrimination and racism, including voicing support for migrants in the US.

She once famously wore an 'I Do Care And U Should Too' jacket at a 2018 Disney awards show, following former President Donald Trump's wife Melania's infamous sporting of a coat displaying the words 'I Really Don't Care. Do U?' as she visited a centre for immigrant children separated from their parents.
