At least one Palestinian was shot by Israeli forces on Friday morning in the occupied West Bank during a violent raid that saw several Palestinians arrested.

Israeli forces stormed the Askar refugee camp and raided homes in eastern Nablus belonging to family members of two Palestinians killed by Israel last month, local sources told The New Arab's Arabic sister service Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.

The deceased men, Muath Al-Masri and Hassan Qatanani, allegedly carried out an attack in April that killed three British-Israeli settlers, Hamas has previously said.

Israeli forces also raided other homes belonging to former prisoners on Friday. They detained a number of Palestinians before arresting three, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed's sources said.

The deceased Al-Masri and Qatanani each had a brother among the three arrested, with Al-Masri's brother Amil being a released prisoner.

Citing security sources, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported four arrests, including two people from Askar camp.

There were also injuries after armed confrontations broke out in the Askar camp and the eastern Nablus neighbourhood.

Palestinian Red Crescent official Ahmad Jibril said ambulance crews treated a young person in the camp who was shot in his neck and shoulder by gunfire from Israeli forces.

He was then taken to a hospital in Nablus.

Wafa's sources said there were two people shot, with both taken to hospital.

The Red Crescent also treated 33 people suffering from the effects of tear gas inhalation on scene.
