US spokesperson Vedant Patel won't answer question over whether Geneva Conventions apply to Gaza

US State Department Spokesperson Vedant Patel refused to answer a question posed by journalist Sam Husseini around whether or not the Geneva Conventions apply in Gaza. Israeli forces have been accused by human rights organisations of repeatedly and vastly breaking international humanitarian law. Israel itself is also facing accusations of genocide in the UN's top court, the International Court of Justice, via a case brought forward by South Africa. Israel’s relentless military campaign on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has claimed the lives of over 34,000 people - of which around 13,900 were children.
