Carrying an umbrella and a backpack, a Pakistani student walked over 5,600km (3.480 miles) to achieve his dream of reaching Mecca on foot ahead of this year's Hajj.

Usman Arshad, 25, started his journey six months ago in his hometown of Okra and walked through Pakistan, Iran, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia to finally reach the holy city of Mecca.

During his journey, Arshad faced many challenges, including his rejected Iraqi visa – which forced him to alter his journey and take a boat trip from Iran to the UAE.

He also endured bad weather and difficult sleeping arrangements but said its positivity helped him persevere to finally reach his destination last Friday.
