In a recent interview on CNN's "State of the Union," former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested that some of the protesters in the US demanding a ceasefire in Gaza could be connected to Russia.

She expressed her belief that while some of these protesters are spontaneous, organic, and sincere, others might be linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Pelosi also pointed out that the call for a ceasefire aligned with what Putin would like to see, paralleling the situation in Ukraine.

Without providing concrete evidence, she called on the FBI to investigate the potential Russian financing of these protests. Pelosi's comments have been the subject of criticism.

However, her comments are also notable as they mark the first time a prominent US lawmaker has accused Russia's leader of backing protesters calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.
