Iraq’s First Lady Shanaz Ibrahim Ahmed has urged the world to stop the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza during a recorded speech commemorating the Anfal genocide that took place over 35 years ago.
Anfal was a campaign against the Kurdish people in northern Iraq via a series of military actions under the regime of Saddam Hussein. It lasted from February 23 until September 6, 1988. Tens of thousands of Kurdish people were killed and over 2,000 villages were burned to the ground.
