Broomberg was arbitrarily detained last May at a peaceful Nakba protest organised by anti-Zionist Jews in Berlin.
He’s since been called to court for “resisting” arrest, accusations he claims are “false”.
He continues to receive many death threats for his pro-Palestine posts, though Berlin police have yet to react when he has reported them. “It's McCarthyism times here, it really is,” he told The New Arab. “A number of my friends in the art community, their works are being removed from galleries, they’re losing representation. It feels very very scary, and it’s very tribal and polarised.”
