Liverpool's Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah netted two goals in Saturday's 3-0 victory over Southampton, making him the English Premiership's top scorer, and setting a new goal-scoring record for Liverpool in the process.

The £34 million signing from Roma has scored 14 goals in 18 games in all competitions this season, including nine in the premiership.

Not only is he now the Premiership's top scorer, but the attacking midfielder has equalled the most goals scored in a campaign since Luis Suarez left the club, with Phillipe Coutinho netting 14 in 2016/17 - a record Salah will surely surpass this season.

With nine goals in his first 12 Premiership games Salah has also broken a record of eight set by Liverpool club legend striker Robbie Fowler in 1993.

Liverpool completed the signing of Salah over the summer, as the club's most expensive player goes from strength to strength.

His late match-winning penalty for Egypt against the Congo in October secured World Cup qualification for Egypt for the first time since 1990.

Millions of Egyptians took to the streets chanting slogans and waving the country's flag after the 2-1 win.
