Al-Araby al-Jadeed celebrates its first anniversary

A year ago, on 30 March, al-Araby al-Jadeed joined an Arab media landscape that had reached its lowest ebb – where the discourse of counterrevolutions, incitement and hate speech prevailed. Counter-revolutions were staged in countries across the Arab world to quell the uprisings of tens thousands of youths demanding freedoms and a better life, a concentrated campaign was launched to mislead the public opinion through counter-media outlets.

Out of the debris of a weak and teetering Arab media, rose al-Araby al-Jadeed website with a determination to offer a media discourse that respects the minds of Arab citizens, their history and deep-rooted civilization. The website remained faithful to the truth without hesitation. It vowed to maintain objectivity and unconcerned with the wrath of tyranny and steering away from the arrogance of ignorance.

Al-Araby al-Jadeed's mission is carried by a generation of young journalists committed to the quest for the truth and to objectivity, in times that enemies of the truth are bent on burying and distorting the truth. Thanks to these young journalists, the website was launched without hesitation or reluctance to pursue its goals and objectives. They chose to be forces of construction, led by the belief that it is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.

Al-Araby al-Jadeed proudly inked its name in the media record of honour and its success was not only measured by its high readership figures, but also by a credibility that proves again and again the Arab youth talent and capacity of giving and building.

30 March marks Land Day in Palestine, a historical anniversary when the Palestinian people renew their attachment and commitment their land and identity and ancestors' heritage. Al-Araby al-Jadeed chose to begin its journey on this honorable day to reiterate that the Palestinian cause remains the Arabs' primary cause, even though many have abandoned it. But we are guided by the values of justice and freedom that the Palestinian cause represent, and remain proud of our Arab identity.

Al-Araby al-Jadeed website enters into its second year without hesitation, undaunted by the challenges ahead: Al-Araby al-Jadeed's team is forging ahead with full confidence and determination to remain a vanguard for freedom, objectivity and credibility.
