US Embassy in UAE warns citizens of 'possible missile or drone strike'
UAE's state news agency had reported earlier on Wednesday that Abu Dhabi civil defence teams put out a fire caused by a gas container explosion in a building on Hamdan Street. There were no injuries.
The warning follows an unprecedented string of missile strikes claimed by the Iran-aligned Houthis on UAE targets.
Since 2015, the Houthis have been fighting a coalition led by Saudi Arabia, and including the UAE, which invaded Yemen to remove them.
Houthi attacks have become common in Saudi Arabia, which shoots down drones and missiles almost every week as Yemen's war continues on. However, the wave of UAE targets sparked a new escalation in the conflict, as Gulf states responded with a flurry of air strikes in Yemen, many of which killed civilians.
