Three Palestinians shot by Israeli forces in east Jerusalem village on Nakba evening

Israeli forces shot three Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian village of Abu Dis, Palestine News Agency [WAFA] reported on Saturday.

The Palestinians were shot on the evening of Nakba Day on Friday, the day that marks the declaration of the state of Israel in Palestine 72 years ago.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said it moved the wounded men on Friday night for medical treatment after they were shot at by Israeli forces. 

The ambulance was initially held up by an Israeli checkpoint, but was allowed to pass through after some delay, WAFA reported. The conditions of the Palestinians shot remained unclear.

Citing the Israeli army, a report by Haaretz said soldiers identified and shot at the Palestinians after they "threw a pipe bomb" at an Israeli post in the occupied Abu Dis.

The incident comes just days after soldiers shot and killed 15-year-old Palestinian, Zaid Qaisia, at the Al Fuwar refugee camp, in the West Bank.

Qaisia was shot in protests after Israeli forces raided the camp in an arrest campaign.

According to the Palestinian health ministry, four more youths were shot with live bullets - one in the abdomen and another in the chest, among other less serious bullet wounds.

On Tuesday, an Israeli soldier was killed after being targeted by a Palestinian stone-thrower during an Israeli raid in the Yaabad village. The death reportedly marked the Israeli forces' first fatality of the year.
