French third-tier outfit Chateauroux sacked coach Marco Simone on Monday after the owner, millionaire Saudi Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad, witnessed their latest defeat over the weekend.

Prince Abdullah, one of many grandsons of former Saudi King Abdulaziz, also owns Sheffield United, Beerschot in Belgium, Al-Hilal United in the United Arab Emirates, and Kerala of India.

Simone took over at Chateauroux in March, shortly after Prince Abdullah bought the club, and the former AC Milan and PSG striker was charged with keeping them in the second tier Ligue 2, a task in which he fell short.

After Friday's 2-0 defeat by Concarneau, Chateauroux lie in eighth spot in the third-tier National league after 10 matches.
