Saudi delegation in Doha preparing embassy reopening, Saudi FM says
A Saudi delegation is in Qatar preparing the reopening of the kingdom's embassy there, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in a statement.
The announcement comes weeks after the re-establishment of ties between Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE and Qatar.
Prince Faisal said in a statement to Saudi state-owned broadcaster Al-Arabiya that the diplomatic mission would be reopened within days, emphasising the importance of reconciliation with Doha.
The minister said the Al-Ula Declaration signed earlier this month, which ended the Saudi-led blockade on Qatar, "lays the foundation for resolving all outstanding problems".
Saudi Arabia closed its embassy in Doha in 2017, when Riyadh led the United Arab Emirates, Bahran and Egypt in imposing a diplomatic blockade on Qatar. The Saudi-led bloc accused Qatar of supporting extremist groups and fostering close ties with Iran.
Qatar vehemently denied the charges.
