Saudi crown prince meets Bahrain king in first tour since Khashoggi murder
Saudi Arabia's powerful crown prince has met with the king of Bahrain in the second leg of his first tour abroad since the brutal murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Mohammed bin Salman met with King Hamad al-Khalifa in Manama on Sunday evening, the state-run Bahrain News Agency reported.
King Hamad was quoted as saying that he "completely rejected attempts targeting Saudi Arabia".
Saudi Arabia has been facing intense global criticism over the killing of insider-turned-critic Khashoggi in its Istanbul consulate on 2 October.
Leaked Turkish intelligence and CIA reports have concluded the murder was orchestrated among the highest circles of the Saudi royal family, implicating Prince Mohammed.
Saudi Arabia has denied that the crown prince ordered the political assassination and said Khashoggi was killed and dismembered in a "rogue" operation.
Prince Mohammed visited Abu Dhabi on Thursday as he began the tour to "brotherly" Arab countries.
The Egyptian presidency said the prince is due to arrive in Cairo later on Monday for talks with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Egyptian activists and journalists have condemned the visit.
He is also set to travel to the Tunisian capital on Tuesday, where activist groups are planning on holding protests against the visit.
Media reports have said Prince Mohammed will also head to Algeria and Mauritania before attending the G20 summit in Argentina next week.
