The trailer for reality television show 'Real Housewives of Dubai' was released on Tuesday, weeks before its 1 June premiere.

The show will air on US TV network Bravo, home of the wildly successful Real Housewives franchise.

The network shared the trailer for the show on Twitter, calling it "opulent" and "over-the-top".

The show sees the cast navigate the trials and tribulations of family life in the desert metropolis, all with the trappings of wealth Dubai is best known for.

The show was announced by Bravo in November 2021. News of its launch was met with anger by some on social media because of the emirate’s poor human rights record.

The UAE ranks 120th in gender inequality on a list of 153 countries, according to 2020 rankings by the World Economic Forum.

The country is also on the list of the 20 most dangerous countries for travellers from the LGBTQ+ community, according to Forbes Magazine.
