Qatar World Cup Day 6: Senegal beat the hosts in thrilling game
Iran has beaten Wales and Qatar crashed out to Senegal, with one last chance to secure a historic win with a tough game against the Netherlands on Tuesday.

Qatar lost its second game in the tournament on Friday with a 3-1 defeat to Senegal.
The hosts needed three points to stand any real chance of progressing through to the last 16, as they faced the current champions of Africa.
After a 2-0 defeat to Ecuador in the opening game, Qatar were hoping to net their first goal of the tournament.
In the second half, after going 2-0 down, Qatar got that goal, giving the hosts a chance of leveling the score.
Senegal put to bed almost any chance of progressing to the next round with another goal ending the game 3-1.
Qatar have one last chance of leaving the tournament with a win as they face the Netherlands on Tuesday in the final match of Group A.
Qatar had won their last four games in the build-up to the tournament and was hoping to replicate this form against the Sengalese.
Also on Friday, Iran beat Wales 2-0 in a thrilling game that saw Team Melli score twice in quick succession late on in the game.
Later today, England will play the USA and the Netherlands face Ecuador.

Ecuador's "Superman" captain Enner Valencia led a feisty fightback on Friday as the South Americans drew 1-1 with the Netherlands in Group A to keep both teams in the running for the last 16 while ending hosts Qatar's chances of qualifying.
Valencia, 33, tapped in his third goal of the tournament from a rebound in the second half after Cody Gakpo had put the Dutch ahead in the sixth minute with a sizzling shot in a result that advanced both sides to four points.

Cody Gakpo's sixth-minute rocket gave the Netherlands a 1-0 lead over Ecuador at halftime in their World Cup Group A clash at Khalifa International Stadium on Friday, to leave the Dutch on the cusp of securing a spot in the knockout round.
Enner Valencia, who had both Ecuador goals in their opening 2-0 win over Qatar, had the South Americans best chance, forcing Dutch goalkeeper Andries Noppert to make a diving save from his curling shot.

Senegal strikers Boulaye Dia, Famara Diedhiou and Bamba Dieng scored to secure a 3-1 victory over Qatar and send the host nation to the brink of elimination following their World Cup Group A clash at Al Thumama Stadium on Friday.
Senegal have three points from their two games and meet Ecuador in a final pool clash on Tuesday, while Qatar still have no points and will be out of the tournament if Netherlands beat Ecuador or that match ends in a draw later on Friday.
A mistake from Boualem Khoukhi allowed Dia to net the opener four minutes before halftime when the defender got the ball caught under his feet as he tried to clear before Diedhiou headed in a second and Dieng made sure of the win late on.
Qatar scored their first ever World Cup goal with 12 minutes of ordinary time remaining as Ghana-born striker Mohammed Muntari headed in Ismail Mohamad's cross but the rare moment of celebration for the home supporters proved only a consolation.

Boulaye Dia gave Senegal a 1-0 lead over Qatar at the break in their World Cup Group A clash at the Al Thumama Stadium on Friday, a game in which both sides could do with a victory after losing their opening fixtures.
The Qataris were denied a penalty when Senegal's Ismaila Sarr appeared to bundle over playmaker Akram Afif towards the end of the first half, but they were punished when Boualem Khoukhi made a mess of his clearance and Dia pounced to score.

Qatar drop goalkeeper for crunch Senegal clash
Hosts Qatar dropped goalkeeper Saad Al Sheeb for their must-win clash against Senegal at the World Cup on Friday, bringing in Meshaal Barsham to replace him.
Al Sheeb looked shaky in Qatar's opening 2-0 defeat to Ecuador and conceded a first-half penalty that Enner Valencia converted.
Barsham is one of three new faces in the Qatar line-up, along with defender Isamil Mohamad and midfielder Assim Madibo.
Bassam Hisham and Abdulaziz Hatem make way for them.
Senegal make two changes from their opening 2-0 defeat to the Netherlands.
Ismail Jakobs replaces Pape Abou Cisse in defence, while forward Famara Diedhiou comes into the line-up in place of Cheikhou Kouyate.

Wales and Iran were goalless at the end of the first half of their World Cup Group B match at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium on Friday, after Iran forward Ali Gholizadeh's strike was ruled out for offside.
Gholizadeh thought he had given Iran an early lead after linking up brilliantly with Sardar Azmoun, but VAR ruled it out. Earlier, Wales striker Kieffer Moore had a shot from close range saved by Iran keeper Seyed Hossein Hosseini.

Iran's national team has been dogged by controversy regarding anti-government protests at home.
The team did not sing the national anthem before the England game, viewed as a statement against the government, while some players and former players have spoken out against the brutal violence against protesters.
The unrest began after the alleged killing of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in detention, who was arrested for allegedly not wearing a headscarf "properly".
More than 300 protesters have been killed by security forces according to monitors.

Wales striker Kieffer Moore has been named in the starting line-up for Friday's match against Iran after his impressive performance off the bench in the opening 1-1 draw against the USA.
Midfielder Joe Allen, who has not played since September, has been named on the bench for the Group B clash.
Wales captain Gareth Bale will make his 110th appearance for the Dragons, breaking the team's all-time appearance record.
Iran coach Carlos Queiroz has made five changes to the side that lost 6-2 against England, bringing Bayer Leverkusen striker Sardar Azmoun back into the starting line-up.
Azmoun will partner Porto striker Mehdi Taremi, who scored two goals against England.

Brazil took time to warm up but in the second half, Tottenham striker Richarlison scored two goals, including a stunning volley that has already been touted as the goal of the tournament.
Brazil are now top of Group G with Switzerland 2nd after a 1-0 win over Cameroon.
