Khayyam ibn al-Sadiq al-Yafrani died during the demonstration after being hit by a security vehicle as it passed near the protesters who had blocked a road with burning tires, according to local reports.

The Tunisian Ministry of Interior reported that the injuries were due to breathing problems and suffocation. Tunisian authorities also reported injuries among security forces who had been attempting to contain the protests.
The protesters had stormed local government offices where government forces had dispelled them using tear gas. They also allegedly targeted a train as it passed through the city.
The demonstrations over rising prices and tax increases appear to be gaining momentum.
