Rescue efforts following the Turkey-Syria earthquake will soon come to a close in northwest Syria, according to the White Helmets.

Search teams - including the White Helmets - have been looking for survivors under the rubble of their homes since the earthquake hit the region on 6 February.

The tragedy has left at least 37,000 people dead, as the UN have received backlash over what they called their 'failure' to get desperately needed aid to war-torn regions of Syria.

Supplies have been slow to arrive in Syria, where years of conflict have ravaged the healthcare system, and parts of the country remain under the control of rebels battling the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, which is under Western sanctions.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is facing widespread backlash over lax construction rules, said his government would continue rescue operations until the last survivor was pulled from the ruins in the quake-hit area.
