Israeli medics forcibly inject nutrients into Palestinian prisoner on hunger strike
A Palestinian prisoner on hunger strike for the 92nd day was subject to forced treatment by Israeli prison authorities’ medical staff, the Palestinian High commission of Detainees Affairs (HCDA) said in a statement on Wednesday.
Miqdad Al Qawasmeh has been on an individual hunger strike since late July, in protest against his administrative detention by Israeli authorities. According to the HCDA, Israeli medical staff at the Israeli Kaplan medical centre attempted to force nutrients into Qawasmeh’s body through IV drip on Tuesday.

Qawasmeh’s mother told the media that Israeli medics entered the ICU where her son is being held and asked him if he agreed to receive nutrients, and that he clearly answered ‘no’.
The medic proceeded to inject the nutrient solutions into his body anyway, she said.
Miqdad Qawasmeh has been under administrative detention since January without charges.
He has spent four years in Israeli prisons, including under repetitive administrative detention orders. He is one of six Palestinians on individual hunger strikes protesting their administrative detentions, all in medically critical conditions.
