Kushner to reveal details on Israel-Arab normalisation agreements in new book
Jared Kushner is to pen a book detailing his experiences in the Trump White House and his work on striking normalisation agreements between Israel and several Arab states, according to a source who spoke to Reuters.
The one-time senior presidential adviser and current son-in-law to former President Donald Trump, played a central role in negotiating the normalisation agreements between Israel, and the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.
The book will reportedly focus heavily on the talks that led to the signing of the so-called Abraham Accords.
Other topics will include, relations with China, the coronavirus pandemic, Russian election interference, the impeachment, and the death of George Floyd.
"It will be an interesting perspective from someone who had a wide-ranging portfolio, was in the room for many of the most tense and consequential moments but kept a fairly low public profile, staying behind the scenes and granting limited media access," the source told Reuters.
Kushner is "not looking to settle scores but rather to provide historical context and help readers understand what it was like to work in the Trump White House", the source added.
After being made a senior advisor in 2017, Kushner was handed a broad portfolio of responsibilities, including missions to secure peace between Israel and Palestine, fix issues related to veteran affairs, criminal justice reform, solving the opioid crisis, and handling the coronavirus pandemic. Critics have questioned his success in these fields.
Due to his close personal ties with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Kushner was widely distrusted by the Palestinians.

The peace plan he did propose was rejected by the Palestinians as being too favourable to Israel and making an independent Palestinian state impossible.
Since leaving the White House, Kushner has reportedly fallen out of Trump’s favour, with the former president blaming his son-in-law for his electoral defeat.
Kushner now lives in Miami with his wife Ivanka Trump.
