Kidnapped Egyptian media worker freed in Lebanon
Lebanese authorities released an Egyptian national who was kidnapped earlier this month in the country's east, local media reported on Tuesday.
Sadiq Rolly, an accountant with Beirut-based Sabbah Media Corporation, was kidnapped over two weeks ago in the Baalbek region, an area infamous for its lawlessness and kidnappings.
Rolly was working with a team filming an Egyptian drama series which is being shot in Baalbek about the Islamic State group.
The Lebanese police and military worked to free Sadiq Rolly, although it was not clear if anyone was arrested and a motive for the crime has not been established.
Rolly was snatched from his car near the village of Taybeh just south of Baalbek, while another man travelling with him, Gabriel Ramya, escaped the kidnappers and reached a local police station.
Sabbah, owned by Lebanese film producer Sadek Sabbah, thanked the Lebanese authorities for their efforts in freeing Rolly.
It is not clear who was behind the kidnapping, but hostages are regularly held for ransom in east Lebanon's Baalbek region.
