Jordanian mother and son shot dead in Nevada
Daifallah Alfayez, spokesperson for Jordan's ministry of foreign affairs and expatriates, said in a statement that preliminary investigations indicated Jason Neo Bourne, 38, shot dead Diana Hawatmeh, 39, her son Joseph, 12.
The housekeeper, a non-Jordanian, was also killed.
Police officers arrived at the property to find Bourne hiding behind a vehicle holding a gun to the head of Hawatmeh's son while she lay dead on the floor.
Both Bourne and the police opened fire which led to the death of Bourne and Joseph.
Hawatmeh's daughter, who was just 16, was also injured in the shoot-out but survived.
She was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.
The investigation claims that the perpetrator lived next door to the family and thought they had filed a complaint against him over alleged drug abuse, Alfayez said.
Hawatmeh was a substitute teacher and Zumba instructor at the school where her son was in the seventh-grade student, according to the Skaggs Catholic Center.
She is survived by her husband and eldest son. Investigations are still in progress.
