Jordanian army says two pilots killed in a plane crash
Two Jordanian pilots were killed on Sunday in a plane crash in northern Jordan during training exercises, the Jordanian army said, citing a technical error.
The training plane crashed in empty land in the Ramtha district of the Irbid governorate, near the border with Syria, at 9:00 a.m. local time (6 a.m. GMT) the army added in a statement.
The incident was attributed to an unspecified "technical malfunction." The aircraft was built by Germany’s GROB Aircraft Co.
The two deceased Royal Jordanian Air Force pilots were identified as Maj. Bilal al-Shoufein and Cpt. Baha Abu Ghanmi.
Local media showed footage of the aircraft after it crashed.
