Israeli forces assault 75-year-old man while building illegal settlement in Hebron
Rateb al-Jubour, coordinator of a local popular committee in southern Hebron, told Palestine based Ma’an News Agency that Israeli settlers, accompanied by the Israeli army, bulldozed land near the illegal Karmiel settlement.
In the process the settlers severely assaulted a 75-year-old Palestinian man later identified as Suleiman Eid al-Hathalin, who was later then taken by Israeli forces for questioning.
Al-Hathalin’s family, along with two other Palestinian families, the Zein and Abu Hmeid families own the land on which the illegal Karmiel settlement is built on.
"Israeli settlers continue to raze and confiscate lands under Israeli army protection,” al-Jubour told the Palestinian news agency.
He called upon international rights groups to “intervene and end Israeli settlement expansion.” An Israeli army spokesperson said they were looking into the reports.
