One Israeli woman killed, 17 others wounded in stabbing, car-ramming in central Israel
An Israeli woman died of injuries sustained in a suspected stabbing and car-ramming attack in Ra'anana on Monday afternoon. Seventeen more were injured in multiple related incidents.
An Israeli police statement described the incident as 'unusual', adding that the suspect used a stolen vehicle and then 'ran over several citizens'.
Israel's public broadcaster said that the assailant stabbed a woman and then drove off with her car, initially ramming three pedestrians, and then took possession of another vehicle and proceeded to run over more pedestrians.
The assailant is said by the Israeli media to be from the city of Hebron in the occupied West Bank.
He and another man said to be a relative are now in police custody, according to the statement of the Israeli police.
Israel has barred Palestinian labourers from entering the occupied West Bank since 7 October. Police are not commenting on how the two suspects entered Ra'anana.
Israel has embarked on a brutal assault on Gaza since deadly raids by Hamas into southern Israel on 7 October.
At least 24,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli assault on Gaza, the vast majority women and children.
Israel has also intensified raids on the occupied West Bank killing at least 347 Palestinians in the territory since 7 October and injuring over 4,000, with over 5,800 also being arrested in the raids - mostly held under administrative detention.
