Israeli military forces Palestinian to stop repairing his home in occupied Hebron
Israeli troops forcefully prevented a Palestinian from occupied Hebron from repairing on his house during a raid in his city, according to security sources.
The home of Palestinian resident Yacoub Badarin in the occupied city of Samou was raided and he was forced to stop construction works. His tools were also confiscated.
Security sources told Palestinian Authority’s official news agency WAFA that Israeli forces were able to stop work was being done in Area C, which means it is under full Israeli military rule.
Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967. More than 600,000 Israeli Jews live in settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Under protection from Israeli forces, settlers in Hebron often use violence against Palestinians in the city, with almost total impunity from Israeli authorities.
Last week, two Palestinian infants were killed in a fire after the Israeli military reportedly prevented fire brigades from reaching them on time in Hebron.
The two children, a toddler believed to be 18 months old and his younger sister burned to death after a fire that broke out in their homes.
The Arab mayor of Hebron said the Israeli military is responsible for the death of the infants.
West Bank divided
All Israeli settlements across the occupied West Bank are classed as illegal under international law.
The Oslo agreement of 1995 divided the occupied West Bank into three: Area A, Area B and Area C. Area A is under the administrative and security control of the Palestinian Authority (PA); Area B's administration is controlled by the PA, with Israel controlling security; Area C is under full administrative and security control of Israel.
