Israel's military said its aircraft struck targets in Gaza, claiming that they were "Hamas facilities" in Gaza early Thursday.

Israeli occupation justified it attack by saying that  Palestinians had fired a rocket from the territory into southern Israel overnight.

An Israeli military statement the rocket fell on open ground near the city of Ashkelon and no injuries were reported.

Hamas security forces said the strikes targeted one of its training centre at al-Bureij refugee camp, in the centre of the strip, and a "communications centre" in the north.

There were no casualties, they said in a statement.

Last week, Palestinians marked one year since last summer's war in Gaza, where 2,251 Palestinians were killed, including 551 children, while more than 10,000 were wounded and 100,000 were left homeless.

On the Israeli side 73 people were killed, of whom 67 were soldiers. Up to 1,600 were wounded, according to the United Nations.
