A 16-year-old Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli forces late on Sunday in the occupied West Bank town of Abu Dis, south of Jerusalem, the Palestinian health ministry has said, the second teenager killed by Israel in 24 hours.

Yamen Jaffal was killed after allegedly "throwing stones" at the occupying forces, when soldiers raided the town late on Sunday.

He succumbed to his wounds while held in custody by the Israeli army without any medical attention for his injuries to his head and chest, local reports said.

Israeli forces reportedly fired tear gas and rubber-coated bullets at Yamen Jaffal before detaining him.

The teenager's uncle, Nader Jaffal, told The New Arab that the Israeli army informed the Palestinian liaison office about Yamens death late on Sunday.

"When we received the news that Yamen was shot, I ran to the Israeli military outpost at the town entrance and demanded to see my nephew," Jaffal said.

"An Israeli officer told me that Yamen was fine, and they didn't let the ambulance through.

"Yamen’s age-peers and residents of the area all told me that Yamen was shot in the head and the chest and that he was dragged to the military outpost."

The Israeli separation wall crosses next to Abu Dis. Israeli forces regularly raid the Palestinian town causing clashes with locals, resulting in injuries and deaths.

The Israeli army alleged that Yamen Jaffal was shot while reportedly "throwing Molotov cocktails" at the military outpost in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli forces have refused to release the teenager's body to the family for burial.

The Palestinian NGO, the National Campaign for Retrieval of the Bodies of Martyrs, said that Israel has now withheld the bodies of 95 Palestinians killed by its army and police, including 11 minors.

Yamen Jaffal was the second Palestinian teenager to be killed by Israeli forces in less than 24 hours.

Earlier on Sunday, Israeli police shot dead 19-year-old Karim Qawasmi, after he allegedly attempted to stab two Israeli officers near Al-Aqsa compound in occupied East Jerusalem's old city.
