Israel extends detention of Palestinian detainee on hunger strike
An Israeli military court confirmed on Sunday the detention order of Palestinian detainee Shadi Abu Aker, despite being on hunger strike for 63 days to protest his jailing without charges.
Shadi Abu Aker, 37-years-old, has been held by Israeli forces without charge since October 2020, based on repetitive detention orders.
His wife, Sajida Abu Aker, told The New Arab that the family has been waiting all year for his release and have no idea when he will be freed.
"Our older son is seven now [and] he has spent with his father no more than a full year, interrupted, because of his repetitive detentions," she said.
Abu Aker had been arrested several times by Israeli forces in recent years, mostly without charges.
Shadi Abu Aker has been on hunger strike in Israeli detention for 9 weeks. Like many Palestinians he is held w/out charge or trial.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Club affirmed that Shadi Abu Aker is currently being held in the Ramleh prison clinic, due to a general deterioration in his health condition.
The hunger strike has seen him suffer vision problems, vomiting, and general pains.
He is one of six Palestinian detainees engaged in individual hunger strikes, protesting their administrative detentions.
Among them is Kayed Fasfus who is being held in the Israeli Barzilai Medical Centre and has been on hunger strike for 102 days. Miqdad Al Qawasmeh has been on a hunger strike for 94 days and is now held in an ICU following a serious deterioration in his health.
Around 500 Palestinians are currently held in administrative detention by Israeli forces, without charges, based on "secret information" provided to military courts by the Israeli intelligence.
