The Israeli army has arrested four Palestinian youths in the West Bank city of Hebron for allegedly throwing snow at a settler, according to local residents and activists.

Activist Muhannad al-Jabari told the Turkish Anadolu news agency that the arrest of the four Palestinians in Hebron took place after a "settler claimed they had been throwing snow at him."

Al-Jabari said that the four youths, who were playing after a rare snowfall blanketed the Middle East, were arrested and are now under investigation at an Israeli police station.

The father of one of the detained Palestinian youths, Nasser Gholama, said Israeli soldiers raided his house in the old part of the city, taking into custody one of his sons and three of his friends.

Most of Hebron is under the control of the Palestinian Authority but the Old City, where approximately 800 Israeli settlers live among over 20,000 Palestinians, remains under Israeli control.

The Palestinians in the Old City live under heavy restrictions and have been subjected to frequent attacks by the settlers.
