Iraq's counter-terrorism forces have carried out more than 300 operations against remnants of the Islamic State group this year, a spokesman for the group said Tuesday.
One hundred IS members were killed and more than 250 others arrested in the operations, counter-terror force spokesman Sabah al-Numan told Baghdad Today.
Numan said the operations thwarted IS attacks to be carried across Iraq.
Despite losing the large swathes of territory it once controlled in Iraq’s north and west, IS cells remain active.
The extremists have launched a number of deadly attacks in recent weeks against Kurdish forces.
But IS attacks that were once a near-daily occurrence in Iraq's major cities are now rare.
