Nasrallah, Haniyeh meet in Beirut to discuss recent Israeli assault on Gaza
The top leaders of Hezbollah and Hamas held talks in Beirut on Tuesday about Israel's 11-day bombing of Gaza last month.
Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas' political bureau leader, arrived in Lebanon on Sunday and met several top officials, including President Michel Aoun and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
On Tuesday, Haniyeh and Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah discussed how they can build on the experience of the latest round of violence. The bruising conflict had caused widespread destruction in the Gaza Strip.
Israel's last offensive in Gaza killed at least 260 Palestinians, including 66 children. The flare-up in violence last month saw occupying warplanes decimate residential and commercial buildings, including those housing global media networks such as Al Jazeera and The Associated Press.
Thousands of Palestinians in the besieged territory were left homeless due to the Israeli bombardment, which drew global scrutiny and calls for urgent action to halt the aggression.
There were no comments after the meeting that brought Nasrallah and Haniyeh together. It was the first between the two since September.
