Graphic reveals stark image of what England's Euros squad would look like without children of immigrants
What would England's Euros squad look like without the participation of the descendants of recent immigrants? A graphic released by the Museum of Migration on Tuesday gave fans a stark picture of what England's starting 11 would look like without immigration.
Released in the aftermath of the Three Lions' 2-0 win over rivals Germany on Tuesday, the graphic shows the names of all of the players with at least one immigrant parent or grandparent crossed out.
Eight players - including Tuesday's goal scorers Raheem Sterling and skipper Harry Kane - would have been excluded from the team.
Only three players; Luke Shaw, John Stones and Jordan Pickford, remain.
Without players with at least one parent or grandparent born overseas, #England would be down to just 3 players. And if you trace the families of almost all the #ThreeLions squad back further, you'll find stories of migration https://t.co/nJdHBrKaaP #FootballMovesPeople #ENGGER pic.twitter.com/UGBfG5tFKP

The graphic's release comes amid heightened debate in England, and the UK as a whole, over the issues of immigration and race.
Early on in England's European campaign, right-wing commentators and some fans took issue with players "taking the knee" in a gesture described by English football's governing body as a means of "peacefully protesting against discrimination, injustice and inequality".
The gesture was met with jeering and boos from sections of the stands in England's pre-tournament friendly matches, as well as in its group stage game against Croatia.
Fans have also criticised the country's tabloid press for its alleged bias against England's black footballers.
Even amid the euphoria which seemed to unite the nation after England secured its quarter-final spot, many were unwilling to ignore the political elephant in the room.
A tweet by Home Secretary Priti Patel, who is overseeing a tightening of immigration controls and asylum processing, was mocked by social media users who made reference to her policies.
"COME ON ENGLAND! Bring it home!" Patel tweeted.
"You’d put the trophy in a van and send it packing," replied one social media user.
"She just wants something new to deport," said another.
