The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has fined Morocco and Egypt's football federations following "altercations" that broke out between the country's teams after their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match on Sunday, CAF said on Tuesday.

The confederation's disciplinary board charged players and officials from the teams with misconduct, stating they brought "the game into disrepute", according to the governing body of African football.

In total, the board decided to fine the Egyptian Federation $25,000, and the Moroccan Federation $10,000 for the altercations that followed the match - which Egypt scored a 2-1 victory in.

One altercation allegedly took place between Egypt's assistant coach Rogerio Paulo Dos Santos Cesar De Sa and Moroccan Football Federation President Fouzi Lekjaa.

The confederation suspended Cesar De Sa for four matches - including the AFCON semi final and either the final or the third place match, alongside two national games - and fined the Egyptian Federation $10,000 for his behaviour.

No suspension or fine was given to Lejjaa however the CAF said a "call of order" should be given to Moroccan officials for "their un-sportsman like" conduct.

Another fight reportedly occurred soon after, which Moroccan player Sofian Boufal and Egyptian player Marwan Mostafa Dawoud were identified as being involved in.

The CAF suspended Dawoud for two AFCON matches and fined the Egyptian Federation with $5,000 for his actions, in addition to another $10,000 for unidentified participants in the incident.

Moroccan players Soufian Chakla and Soufian Boufal were also reportedly suspended for two matches with their national team due to their "violent behaviour".

Although a fine wasn't explicitly given to them, a fine of $10,000 for anonymous participants was issued.

The CAF did not state the reasons behind their allocation of larger fines to the Egyptian officials and players involved.

After the match, world-renowned Egyptian player Mohammed Salah was hailed by fans for consoling Moroccan player Achraf Hakimi, who appeared devastated following Morocco's defeat.

Egypt will face Cameroon on Thursday in AFCON's semi-finals, and hope to become AFCON champions for the eighth time.
