Israel detains Palestinian TV boss, journalists in overnight West Bank raids

Israeli forces conducted sweeping raids at dawn on Monday, storming a several areas in the West Bank and arresting a number of Palestinians including four journalists in Ramallah including the director of al-Quds TV, a television channel with links to Hamas.
Israeli forces have also imposed a tight blockade of the village of Kobar, north of Ramallah, the birthplace of Palestinian Mohammed Dar Youssef, 17, who was shot dead after stabbing three Israeli settlers near the Adam settlement in East Jerusalem on Wednesday.
The army also stormed Ramallah and the nearby village of Kharbata al-Mesbah arresting four journalists and confiscating various journalistic equipment.
Among the detainees were the director of al-Quds TV Alaa Rimawi, along with Qutaiba Hamdan, Mohammed Alwan and Hosni Anjas, all of whom are journalists who work for the channel.
Al-Quds TV is one of the main satellite channels in the West Bank and Gaza. According to online sources, Israel accuses al-Quds TV of incitement and providing propaganda material to Hamas.
Israel carries out frequent raids on Palestinian media organisations, confiscating equipment under the broad accusation of "incitement".
The "incitement" clause is the same used to arrest Palestinians for publishing anti-Israel social media posts. Incitement was one of the charges handed to teen resistance icon Ahed Tamimi, who was released on Sunday after serving an eight month prison sentence for slapping an Israeli soldier on her family's property in 2016.
The wife of Alaa Rimawi, Mimouna Husam al-Din, told The New Arab: "Israeli forces raided our house in the al-Masaif neighbourhood of Ramallah, arrested Alaa and confiscated his phone, computer and car."
Local sources reported that clashes broke out in the neighbourhood between youths and Israeli forces, but no injuries were reported.
Israeli forces arrested 18 other young men after conducting raids across the West Bank, including Qalqiliya, Bethlehem and Hebron.
According to local media reports, preacher Nada Aziz al-Dweik was arrested at her home in Hebron. Students affiliated with the Hamas wing of Hebron University were also threatened by soldiers.
