During an event in solidarity with Palestinian booksellers, Palestinian writer Ahmed Masoud refused to read from his book Come What May and instead destroyed it in stage in an act of protest.

Speaking to The New Arab after the event, Masoud explained his reasons for this act motivated by his opposition to Israel's actions against Palestinian writers and booksellers and the silence around Israeli practices.

Following the arrests of 133 students on Thursday from Columbia and its sister college Barnard at their encampment in support of Palestinians, campus demonstrations in the US and around the world have surged.
