Wednesday marked the first anniversary of the brutal killing of Jamal Khashoggi.

On 2 October 2018, the 59-year-old Saudi journalist walked into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to obtain documents for his upcoming marriage.

He never left the building.

Saudi officials at first obfuscated the details of his death, claiming he had left the consulate and then disappeared.

It was soon revealed, however, that Khashoggi was brutally murdered by Saudi agents.
