Press Freedom in Iran
This year, Iran moved up one position in the World Press Freeom Index from 165 to 164. But, nevertheless, Tehran remains one of the biggest jailers of journalists and activists who are regularly arrested and placed in detention without charge.
Narges Mohammadi was sentenced to ten years in prison for "forming an illegal group". Its name? The Centre for Human Rights Defenders.
