Emirati astronaut Sultan Al-Neyadi took to social media on Friday to share Eid Al-Fitr greetings from outer space.
In the video posted to Twitter, Al-Neyadi is seen floating in the zero-gravity atmosphere at the International Space Station alongside a model of the UAE’s space mission mascot, Suhail.
Al-Neyadi delivered his message dressed in traditional Emirati attire for the occasion.
“Today, I’ll be celebrating Eid with my trusty companion Suhail," he wrote in a caption accompanying the video. "On this blessed occasion I send my warmest greetings to my family, friends, and everyone back on Earth. May this special occasion bring you peace, happiness, and prosperity. Eid Mubarak!”
Al-Neyadi travelled to the ISS from the Kennedy Space Center in March, as part of NASA's SpaceX Crew-6 mission. Alongside a team of astronauts from several countries, he will spend around six months carrying out experiments on board the orbiting laboratory.
The successful Crew-6 launch in March made Al-Neyadi the first Arab to take part in a long-duration space mission. He is slated to go for a space walk on 28 April.
During the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, Al-Neyadi shared images of the Muslim holy cities of Mecca and Medina from the ISS.
