Syrian air defence "confronted" an Israeli reconnaissance plane and forced it to leave Syrian air space, state media agency SANA reported on Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred over the town of Quneitra, in southwest Syria.
Tensions between the two countries have skyrocketed since an Israeli F-16 jet was shot down over Syria, reportedly by Iranian-led forces.
Israel had been carrying out raids on Syria after it intercepted what it said was an Iranian drone entering its airspace from Syria.
Iran with Russia is the main military backer of the Damascus government.
Israel has largely confined its operations to targeting Hizballah, the Lebanese Shia group that is a key ally of Iran.
