Qatar lost its second game in the tournament on Friday with a 3-1 defeat to Senegal.
The hosts needed three points to stand any real chance of progressing through to the last 16, as they faced the current champions of Africa.
After a 2-0 defeat to Ecuador in the opening game, Qatar were hoping to net their first goal of the tournament.
In the second half, after going 2-0 down, Qatar got that goal, giving the hosts a chance of leveling the score.
Senegal put to bed almost any chance of progressing to the next round with another goal ending the game 3-1.
Qatar have one last chance of leaving the tournament with a win as they face the Netherlands on Tuesday in the final match of Group A.
Qatar had won their last four games in the build-up to the tournament and was hoping to replicate this form against the Sengalese.
Also on Friday, Iran beat Wales 2-0 in a thrilling game that saw Team Melli score twice in quick succession late on in the game.
Later today, England will play the USA and the Netherlands face Ecuador.
