Germany's chancellor will make a visit to Jordan and Lebanon later this month, local media has reported.

Jordan's official Petra news agency said in a statement on Friday that Angela Merkel will visit the country on 20 June to meet with King Abdullah II.

"Talks will cover cooperation ties and partnership between the two countries, in addition to regional developments," the statement said.

Merkel will also visit Lebanon, accompanied by lawmakers and an economic delegation, for two days starting on June 21, according to local newspaper The Daily Star.

The chancellor is set to meet with Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, President Michel Aoun and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

Both countries are host to millions of Syrian refugees and Germany is a key donor country covering the Syria crisis response.

Merkel is currently caught in a row over refugees and asylum seekers flocking to Europe, a crisis that threatens to unravel her delicate coalition government.
