Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett told UAE and Bahrain ministers Sunday that Egypt and Jordan supported the Abraham Accords, which saw more Arab states normalise ties with Israel last year.
Bennett told UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khalifa Al-Marar and Bahrain Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al-Zayani that Cairo and Amman were both "delighted" with the normalisation agreements struck between Israel and four Arab nations last year.
Egypt and Jordan were the only Arab countries to have diplomatic ties with Israel before last year's normalisation deals.
"First of all, I want to tell you that I met the king of Jordan and the president of Egypt, and they’re of course delighted with the ensuing relationship between our countries, and I want to assure you of continuity," Bennett told Al-Marar and Al-Zayani during a tripartite meeting in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
"We’re stable and we believe in this relationship and we want to expand it as much as possible," he added.
"We need to work forward together to send that message," said Al-Zayani.
Bennett replied: "Please send my best regards to His Majesty (Bahraini king), and I’m looking forward to meeting him."
Known as the Abraham Accords, Israel fully established diplomatic ties with the UAE and Bahrain - followed by normalisation with Sudan and then Morocco - in 2020 under the tenures of then Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump.
The US-brokered agreements were met with fierce Palestinian backlash and condemnation by some governments.
Egypt and Jordan made peace agreements with Israel decades ago.
Bennett met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi two weeks ago in the Red Sea resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh, marking the first visit to Egypt by an Israeli prime minister in over a decade.
The Israeli premier also secretly met with Jordanian King Abdullah II in July in Amman - the first summit between the countries' leaders in over three years.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog revealed that he also met with Jordan's king weeks ago.
