During an event in solidarity with Palestinian booksellers, Palestinian writer Ahmed Masoud refused to read from his book Come What May and instead destroyed it in stage in an act of protest.

Speaking to The New Arab after the event, Masoud explained his reasons for this act motivated by his opposition to Israel's actions against Palestinian writers and booksellers and the silence around Israeli practices.

On Sunday, 2 March, the group Na’amod organised an afternoon of readings in solidarity with the Palestinian cultural scene, following the Israeli raid on The Educational Bookshop in occupied East Jerusalem and the arrest of its owners, Mahmoud and Ahmad Muna, on 9 February.

At London’s 21Soho venue, Na’amod brought together a range of acclaimed writers to celebrate Palestinian culture and free expression. The lineup included Khalid Abdalla, Atef Alshaer, R.Z. Baschir, Rachel Connolly, Selma Dabbagh, Sophie Heawood, Hannah Khalil, Ahmed Najar, Michael Rosen, Rachel Shabi, Avi Shlaim, Matthew Teller, Daniel Trilling, and Natasha Walter.
