Syria is witnessing its worst violence since Bashar al-Assad’s overthrow, as clashes between security forces and pro-Assad fighters have escalated into mass killings.

Over 830 Alawite civilians have been executed in Latakia and Tartus, with the overall death toll reaching 1,311, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Women and children are among the victims, as the violence spirals into sectarian massacres.

Syria’s interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa has ordered a fact-finding committee to investigate the killings and hold those responsible accountable, stressing the need for national unity to prevent further bloodshed.
