The US State Department has blamed Hamas for the killing of Palestinian journalists in Gaza by Israeli forces, following a question raised by an Al Jazeera English correspondent referencing war crimes.
The remarks came after two more journalists, Hossam Shabat of Al Jazeera and Mohammad Mansour of Palestine Today, were killed in Israeli airstrikes On Monday.
Mansour’s wife and son were also killed in the attack, which reportedly came without warning. According to the Government Media Office in Gaza, the total number of journalists killed since October 2023 has now reached 208.
Rights groups have condemned the strikes, stating that targeting journalists is a war crime under international law.
