Syrian artists have turned a vanity project of their former dictator’s wife Asmaa al-Assad into an exhibition titled “Path”. Its main theme is forgiveness and the end of war. The organisers said that the artistic event received approval from the new Islamist led Syrian government without any hurdles. Following a brief interlude after the fall of Assad, cultural life in Damascus has, for now, flickered back to life – with a nod from the new authorities despite the uncertain security situation.
