Residents of southern Lebanese villages returned to their homes on Tuesday, only to find widespread destruction left by departing Israeli forces.
While Israel withdrew from most areas, it retained troops at five strategic positions along the border, defying the ceasefire agreement that mandated a full withdrawal by February 18.
The ceasefire, initially established in late November 2024, had its withdrawal deadline extended from January 26 to February 18.
The five positions where Israeli forces remain include hills near Labouneh, Jabal Blat, and areas across from Avivim, Malkia, Margaliot, and Metula.
Lebanon's government considers any remaining Israeli presence an occupation and asserts its right to take necessary actions to ensure complete withdrawal.
