Kamal Adwan Hospital, the last operational medical facility in North Gaza, is facing imminent destruction as Israeli forces escalate their assault on the area.
Explosives have been deployed near the hospital, and constant gunfire has injured patients and staff, creating a dire humanitarian crisis. The facility has been the last refuge for hundreds of wounded civilians, including children and the elderly, as well as those seeking shelter from the relentless attacks.
Over the past week, Israeli forces have repeatedly targeted the hospital, striking critical departments such as the ICU, nursery, and maternity ward. Director Hussam Abi Safia has called the situation catastrophic, with 66 patients requiring urgent evacuation. However, the process of relocating patients, medical supplies, and staff under these dangerous conditions is nearly impossible. The hospital’s director and the World Health Organization (WHO) have both issued urgent calls for action.
The WHO Chief described the situation as "deeply worrisome" and called for an immediate ceasefire to protect innocent lives. With North Gaza under siege for over 70 days, humanitarian services are on the brink of collapse, and the evacuation of Kamal Adwan Hospital would leave the region with no medical care.
This attack is part of a broader campaign that has targeted healthcare facilities throughout Gaza, leading to the displacement of medical staff, destruction of critical infrastructure, and immense suffering for civilians. The international community must urgently intervene to prevent further loss of life and ensure access to humanitarian aid.
