The New Arab visits Chile’s Palestino: A century-old football club of Palestinian pride
Video
Founded in 1920 by Palestinian immigrants in Santiago, Club Deportivo Palestino has long stood as a symbol of identity and endurance for Chile’s Palestinian community — one of the largest outside the Arab world. During a recent visit, The New Arab explored how the century-old club continues to link Latin America with Palestine through football, culture and collective memory.
Now, as part of the Qatar–Chile Years of Culture programme, Club Deportivo Palestino is returning to the Middle East to play friendly matches and host cultural events in Doha that celebrate shared heritage and solidarity across continents.
